Odor Analysis

Odor Anlysis

Intertox provides odor investigation and analysis services to identify the source and determine if it is a nuisance, a health hazard, or both.  We locate and identify the chemical source(s) using air sampling equipment and assess the compound.  We interpret the data to evaluate which specific substance is contributing to the nuisance and whether it is toxic to individuals in the facility or surrounding areas. We compare the concentration of odor to known standards to determine if there is risk to workers or neighboring locations. Based on our findings we can recommend remediation activities which many include air purification or odor neutralization  equipment.  We also work with clients to present our findings in corporate, community or legal settings.

Services:

Identification of the Source

  • Professionals use advanced equipment and techniques to pinpoint the origin of the odor.
  • This may involve sampling the air and analyzing it for various chemical compounds.
  • They may also examine the building's materials, fixtures, and any potential sources of contamination.

Analysis and Interpretation

  • The chemical composition of the odor is analyzed to determine the specific substances contributing to the smell.
  • This information helps determine if the odor is caused by natural substances, chemicals, or a combination of both.
  • The analysis may also assess the potential health effects of the odor.

Assessment of Risks

  • Odor toxicology services help evaluate the potential impact of the odor on human health.
  • This may involve comparing the odor's concentration to known thresholds for potential health risks.
  • The analysis can also determine if the odor is causing a nuisance or is a potential fire hazard.

Remediation and Mitigation

  • Based on the findings, professionals can recommend appropriate remediation measures, such as cleaning, disinfecting, or replacing contaminated materials.
  • They may also suggest odor control strategies, such as air purifiers or odor-neutralizing products
